RCB beat SRH in IPL clash, keep hopes alive for next round

Bangalore, May 18 (IBNS): Royal Challengers Bangalore kept their hopes of reaching the next round alive as they defeated Sunrisers Hyderabad by 14 runs in an Indian Premier League clash here on Thursday.

In a high-scoring encounter, RCB first batted to score 218 runs for the loss of six wickets in their 20 overs.

Sunrisers attempted to reach the target but RCB bowlers kept things tight to restrict them at 204 runs for the loss of three wickets.

Skipper Kane Williamson (81) and Manish Pandey (62) batted brilliantly but could not reach the target at the end, giving yet another hope to RCB fans to reach the play offs.

Williamson hammered five sixes and seven boundaries in his knock.

He played a stormy 42-ball knock.

Manish added seven boundaries and two sixes in his 38-ball innings.

RCB bowlers kept things tight and it was Ali,Siraj and Chahal who picked up a wicket each for the local team.

Earlier, AB De Villiers (69), Moen Ali (65) and

Colin de Grandhomme (40) who helped RCB reach 218 runs.

Grandhomme was merciless in his knock as he smashed 17-ball 40 runs. He hit four sixes and a boundary in his innings.

Rashid Khan picked up three wickets for Sunrisers.
