Rohit smashes 85 no, help MI beat Pune

Pune, May 1 (IBNS): Mumbai Indians skipper Rohit Sharma smashed unbeaten 85 as he played a heroic knock to beat Rising Pune Supergiants by eight wickets here on Sunday.

After restricting  Pune at 159 runs for the loss five wickets, Mumbai reached 161 runs for the loss of two wickets.

Saurabh Tiwary remained the top scorer for Pune with his 57 runs while Steven Smith  added 45 runs with the willow.

Tiwary hit four boundaries and two sixes in his knock.

India fast bowler Jasprit Bumrah took three wickets for Mumbai.

Later, chasing 160 for victory, Sharma emerged as the leading  scorer with his 85 unbeaten runs knock to help his side reach the winning score.

He smashed eight boundaries and three sixes in the innings.

Parthiv Patel (21), Ambati Rayudu (22) and Jos Buttler (27*) contributed with their willows.

Ashok Dinda and R Aashwin picked a wicket each for Pune.
