Sachin, others back Indian team

New Delhi/Sydney, Mar 26 (IBNS): Former Indian players, including Sachin Tendulkar, came out in support of Team India after the side suffered a massive 95 runs defeat at the hands of Australia in the semi-final of the World Cup on Thursday.

In a series of tweets, Sachin Tendulkar said: "Well played in the ICC World Cup Team India. A tough game today and a loss is always difficult to handle."

He said: "But you have played some terrific cricket throughout and all the fans have enjoyed watching you. Congratulations to Australia for a convincing win. Steve Smith's hundred, Finch's support to him and a strong finish by Johnson made the difference."

VVS Laxman, who has played some memorable knocks against Australia during his career, tweeted: "Ind might have lost the semis but they should be proud at the way they played from the start of the WC.Aus was a better side today #CWC15."

Former Indian skipper Anil Kumble said:"Well played India. Not to worry. Lost to a better team today. Good luck to the hosts Aus v NZ. #CWC2015 @ibnlive @BCCI."

Former India spinner Murali Kartik tweeted: "So proud of the way team India has played through the tournament. Australia was the better team today. May the best team win the finals."

Besides former players, current cricketers, who were part of the 2011 World Cup winning side, also stood beside the Indian side.

Harbhajan Singh said: "Sad to see my Team India's defeat in semi finals of the World Cup today..Still proud of you guys @BCCI.All the best AUS vs NZ 4 th Finals."

All-rounder Yuvraj Singh tweeted: "india had a rely gd tournament Sad for my boys but Australia has played some outstanding cricket in this w cup deserves to be in the final."

Australia defeated India to reach the final of the World Cup where they will meet co-hosts of the tournament New Zealand.
