Simona Halep reaches Australian Open third round

Melbourne, Jan 17 (IBNS):  World number one Simona Halep survived some tensed moments as she defeated  American Sofia Kenin to reach the third round of the Australian Open here on Thursday.

Halep defeated her opponent by 6-3 6-7 (5-7) 6-4.

Halep found some tough challenge from her American opponent in the match.

"I have no idea how I won," Halep, who earned the victory, was quoted as saying by BBC.

She will meet another American Venus Williams in the next round.
