Sourav did no wrong by waving shirt at Lords: Virat Kohli
Kolkata, Apr 7 (IBNS): Indian cricket team captain Virat Kohli, who is known for his on-field aggression, on Saturday said his predecessor Sourav Ganguly did no wrong by waiving his shirt at the iconic Lords in London after winning the Natwest Trophy way back in 2002.
Kohli made the comment during an interactive session at the launch of cricket historian Boria Majumdar's book Eleven Gods and a Billion Indians in Kolkata.
Ganguly, who was also present at the session, quickly responded to Kohli's comment saying, the Indian skipper would take a step further if he wins the 2019 World Cup.
"Virat Kohli will open his shirt and walk with the trophy at the Oxford street (in London)" the former skipper said.
Kohli, who took a break after the series against South Africa, will get back to cricket with the eleventh edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL), which is commencing on Saturday.
He is also the skipper of the Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB), an IPL franchise.
Kolhi, who took over the captaincy of the national team in all the three formats of the game in 2017, won back to back series for a year until the Test series against the Proteas.
Speaking about spirit of the Indian cricket team, Kohli said: "It is the mindset which matters when one is going to face something difficult (on field). One must have the ability to look at things differently."
"As a team we kept looking at things from other perspectives. If one believes in something, one can make things at a particular way" he said referring to his decision of winning the toss and batting first at Johannesburg Test match against South Africa recently.
Kohli's RCB will take on the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) on Sunday in their first respective matches in the tournament.
