Sourav Ganguly joins Mudgal panel?

Mumbai, June 8 (IBNS) Former Indian skipper Sourav Ganguly, under whose leadership Indian team had reached the final of the 50-over World Cup in 2003, joined the Supreme Court-appointed Mudgal committee which is investigating the betting and spot-fixing scam which had hit the cash-rich Indian Premier League (IPL) last year, media reports said on Sunday.

The Indian Premier League Probe Committee, headed by Justice (Retd) Mukul Mudgal, who had been appointed by the Supreme Court to look into IPL 6 scam, submitted its report on Feb 10 where it found suspended Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) president N Srinivasan's son-in-law and Chennai Super Kings (CSK) team's Gurunath Meiyappan guilty of match-fixing.

The 170-page report, filed in the Supreme Court said Meiyappan had fixed and put bets on IPL matches.

The Supreme Court had also installed former Indian cricketer Sunil Gavaskar as the interim chief of the BCCI replacing  Srinivasan for the Indian Premier League (IPL) seventh edition affairs.

This year the Indian Premier League was won by Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) last Sunday.
