Sri Lanka make comeback, India 329/6

Pallekele, Aug 12 (IBNS): Sri Lanka came back strong in the third Test after a 188 runs first wicket stand between Indian openers as the visitors finished the day's play at 329 runs for the loss of six wickets here on Saturday.

Shikhar Dhawan hammered a heroic 119 runs while Lokesh Rahul added 85 runs as they added 188 runs on the first wicket partnership for the visiting side.

By dismissing Rahul, Pushpakumara became the successful Sri Lankan bowler to break the partnership.

Quick wickets by Sri Lankan bowlers helped India move to a much lower gear as was demanded by the situation.

Virat Kohli (42) and R Ashwin (31) could not work on the start they got in the match.

Sri Lankan bowlers put up smart show to add some pressure on the Indian batting lineup.

The home side showed some fight back to return to the match on a day which was initially dominated by India.

India already lead the series 2-0.

The third Test is only a prestige battle for Sri Lanka as India have already won the series.
