Colombo, Mar 6 (IBNS): Boasting on Kusal Perera's blistering knock, Sri Lanka outplayed India by five wickets in the first T20I at R. Premadasa Stadium here on Tuesday.

Chasing a target of 175 runs in 20 overs, Sri Lanka reached home with more than an over to spare.

Perera scored 66 runs in just 37 balls to make the task easier for the home team.

His innings was crafted by six fours and four sixes.

Washington Sunder had the best bowling figure for India with 2/28 in four overs.

Yuzvendra Chahal picked up to 2 other Sri Lankan wickets while Jaydev Unadkat clinched one.

Earlier Shikhar Dhawan had played a brilliant knock of 90 runs for India to help his team post a total of 174/5 in 20 overs.

Apart from Dhawan, Manish Pandey and Rishav Pant scored 37 and 23 runs respectively.

Despite Dhawan's knock, it were Sri Lanka who took the game away from India.
