Tokyo Olympics: India defeat Germany 5-4 to win bronze in men’s hockey

Tokyo/IBNS: Forty-one years after their last medal in Olympics, India won a bronze medal in men’s hockey in the same tournament here Thursday.

Indi won the medal defeating Germany 5-4 in a nail-biting match.

The two teams were fighting for the bronze medal.

After storming into semi finals, India were defeated by Belgium in the race to the final.

Congratulating the team, Prime Minister Narendra Modi tweeted, “Historic! A day that will be etched in the memory of every Indian.

“Congratulations to our Men’s Hockey Team for bringing home the Bronze. With this feat, they have captured the imagination of the entire nation, especially our youth. India is proud of our Hockey team.”
