Tokyo/IBNS: Despite having an impressive start, Indian women's hockey team was thrashed by Netherlands 5-1 in the opening match in Tokyo Olympics, 2020.

Indian women responded to Netherlands' first goal, scored in the sixth minute of the match, within four minutes.

After, Indian skipper Rani Rampal made the goal in the 10th minute of the match, the team managed to contain the Netherlands team, which is currently ranked first, till the second quarter of the game. The score till then remained at 1-1.

Indian defence looked impressive, but their attack lacked strength.

Netherlands' power play was on full display, which the Indian women could not defend too long.

In the fifth quarter, they scored another goal, leaving no hope for the Indian women to make a come back.
