Paris/Xinhua: Two-time European 800-meter champion Natalia Krol of Ukraine has been hit by a 20-month ban for doping violation, the Athletics Integrity Unit (AIU) said on Thursday.

Currently ranking 21st in the world in women's 800m event, Krol was banned for presence and use of the prohibited substance hydrochlorothiazide, with her 20-month suspension counted back from January 16, 2020.

The 25-year-old took the back-to-back victories at the 2016 and 2018 European Athletics Championships and also earned the 800m gold medal at the 2019 World Military Games.
