UK to host Bengal-Britain Travel Friendship Cricket Tournament in Kolkata

| @indiablooms | Jan 25, 2024, at 05:06 pm

The British Deputy High Commission Kolkata will be hosting the ‘Bengal-Britain Travel Friendship’ cricket tournament in collaboration with travel trade partners at the Police Athletic Club on January 27 and 28, 2024.

The British Deputy High Commission plans to celebrate the Bengal-British cricket ties by organising a friendly cricket tournament with our travel trade partners (Travel Agents Federation of India, SKAL International, Travel Agents Association of India).

The tournament would be in the T20 format of two semi-finals on the first day (27 January) and the final on the second day (28 January) played between these partners and our British Deputy High Commission office.

Dr. Andrew Fleming, British Deputy High Commissioner to East and Northeast India said: "We celebrated the cricket ties between our two countries throughout the Cricket World Cup 2023 and will continue to do so when England returns to India to compete in the bilateral Test Series between January and March 2024.

"Eden Gardens may not be hosting a Test match but cricket continues to uniquely bind West Bengal with my country through the history of the incredibly past England games in Kolkata. An exciting tournament with our travel trade partners this weekend is a great way to rekindle such memories in the City of Joy."

The fixture of the tournament is as follows:

27 January:

Match 1: UK in Kolkata Vs SKAL International (9 am to 12.30 pm)

Match 2: TAFI Vs TAAI (1 to 4 pm)

28 January:

Finals: Winner of Match 1 Vs Winner of Match 2 (9 am to 1.30 pm)

Prize Distribution ceremony: 2 pm

The Bengal-Britain Travel Friendship cricket tournament is supported by Air Vistara, Air Arabia, Peerless Hotels, Warehouse Café, Kenilworth Hotel, Chandni Travels, 911i, Interglobe Technology Quotient and Orchid Incoming.
