USA T20: West Indies beat India by 1 run

Lauderhill , Aug 27 (IBNS): In a high-scoring encounter, West Indies beat India by 1 run in a thrilling first T20 match of the series played here on Saturday.

Posting 245 for six in their 20 overs, the current T20 World champs, managed to restrict India at 244 for four.

Dwayne Bravo (2-37) bowled the crucial last over, where he picked up the wicket of Indian skipper MS Dhoni in the last ball to clinch the match.

India needed 2 runs to win the game.

Dhoni (43) Lokesh Rahul  (110*) added 107 in the fourth wicket partnership to nearly snatch the game from the home side.

Rahul looked brilliant in his 51-ball unbeaten 110.

He hit 12 boundaries and five sixes in his knock.

Rohit Sharma scored 62 runs.

West Indies lead the series 1-0.

USA witnessed West Indies batting charisma as openers Johnson Charles (79) and Evin Lewis (100) hammered Indian bowlers all-round the park to post massive 245 runs for the loss of six wickets.

Charles showed his brilliance with the willow as he smashed 33-ball 79.

He smashed six boundaries and seven sixes in his prolific knock which was cut short by Mohammed Shami in the 10th over of the game.

Evin Lewis, hitting five boundaries and nine sixes, however, reached 100.

Andre Russell and Kieron Pollard  contributed 22 runs each.

Jasprit Bumrah and Ravindra Jadeja picked up two wickets each.

India made their US debut with this match.
