New Delhi: Indian skipper Virat Kohli and coach Ravi Shastri thanked PM Narendra Modi for mentioning the Indian team's historic 2-1 Test series victory against Australia in their nation during his monthly radio address to the nation 'Mann Ki Baat'.

"Thank you, Sir. Your kind words will further strengthen #TeamIndia and ’s resolve to perform under pressure and in trying circumstances. Jai Hind!" Shastri tweeted.

Virat Kohli posted a picture of the Indian flag to thank the PM for his words.

Skipper Ajinkya Rahane, who led the side and clinched the series victory in the absence of Kohli, also reacted to PM's comment and said: "Thank you for your words of encouragement Shri @narendramodi Ji It’s always an honour to represent our country, we hope to continue inspiring more Indians as we move forward."

India opened the series with a defeat at the hands of Australia in the Pink Ball Test match.

However, the Indian team, which was hit by injuries to main players, scripted history when they defeated Australia in the second and final matches to clinch the series 2-1.
