Rio de Janeiro, Aug 8 (IBNS): Olympian Dipa Karmakar, who will vie for a podium finish in the Vault gymnastics final of the ongoing Rio Olympics on Aug 14, said she is not thinking about the medals and is more keen towards the betterment of her rankings.

Speaking to IBNS, the Bong gymnast said that prior to the qualifications, her aim was to book a final berth and having achieved that she wishes to improve upon her ranking.

Karmakar admitted that her chance of a podium finish is unlikely but is hopeful of landing a perfect score.

Karmakar is currently placed eighth after the qualifiers.

Earlier, she wrote herself in the pages of history books by securing an Olympics entry, thus becoming the first Indian female gymnast to do so.

Her entry in the finals of the vault event meant that Karmakar is now the only Indian gymnast (post independence) to appear for a medal round.
