World T20: Australia win toss, post 160 runs for the loss of 6 wickets

Mohali, Mar 27 (IBNS) Featuring in a crucial encounter against India, Australia posted 160 runs for the loss of 6 wickets after their skipper Steven Smith won the toss and decided to bat first, here on Sunday.

The Australian openers started proceeding at a brisk pace, scoring 53 runs in four overs.

Usman Khwaja (26) hit 6 fours before Ashish Nehra sent him back to the hut, breaking a 54 run opening wicket stand.

David Warner (6) was lured into a shot by Ashwin, but was stumped by Dhoni as the ball raced past the Aussie's bat.

Steve Smith was the next to follow. the Aussie skipper scored just 2 runs and was caught behind the stumps, giving Yuvraj Singh his first wicket of the tournament.

The south paw picked up Smith in his very first ball of the tournament.

Aaron Finch hit some lusty blows for his 43. He got out trying to slog Pandya out of the park, only to scoop one for Shikhar Dhawan at lond on.

Maxwell (31), who made a slow start, hit a four and a six of a switch hit in consecutive balls of Ravindra Jadeja, who had been very economical by then, but was done by a slower delivery from Bumrah.

Trying to up the ante in the last over, James Faulkner (10) hit one straight to Virat Kohli at long on in the very first ball, giving Pandya his second wicket.

Phil Nevill, who faced 2 deliveries, hit a boundary and a six to remained unbeaten at 10, while his partner Shane Watson remained unbeaten at 18

For India, Hardik Pandya picked up 2 wickets while Nehra, Bumrah, Yuvraj and Ashwin picked up a wicket each.
