New Delhi/IBNS: Indian airline IndiGo commenced operations from Kolkata to Guangzhou on October 20, its second destination in China after the recent launch of Chengdu.

Guangzhou is the airline’s 23rd international destination and 83rd overall destination.

IndiGo announced its entry in China in June and have already launched flights to two of the busiest and fastest growing cities in China, Chengdu and Guangzhou.

William Boulter, Chief Commercial Officer, IndiGo said, “We are pleased to inaugurate our first flight to Guangzhou. Furthermore, the flights between Guangzhou and Kolkata will help attract more tourists on the Buddhist circuit in India, with IndiGo connecting Gaya, Varanasi and Patna with Kolkata directly.

The city, also known to be the birth place of Cantonese cuisine will be a gateway for an authentic culinary experience. This connection will strengthen trade, tourism & mobility contributing to economic growth and social cohesion between the two nations”.

Boulter further added, “IndiGo will continue to expand its network to meet the requirements of both business and leisure travellers while offering more flexibility at affordable fares, on-time performance, and a courteous and hassle-free flying experience”.
