Kabul, Aug 3 (IBNS): At least 27 Taliban insurgents, including three key leaders, were killed in an encounter in Badakhshan province of Afghanistan, reports said.

Khaama Press quoted local officials as saying that the insurgents were killed during the Kokcha 07 clearance operations.

The three key leaders have been identified as Mawlavi Nasir Ahmad Farooqi, Fasihullah Sultani, and Mullah Samiullah Shamil.

Provincial governor’s spokesman Ahmad Navid Frotan added that at least 32 insurgents were injured in the operations.

Frotan said that two security officials were killed and six others sustained injuries, though no civilians were injured or killed.

However, the Taliban group rejected the report of any serious damage dealt to their group.
