Afghanistan: Heavy blast rocks Kabul, 1 killed

Kabul, July 1 (IBNS): At least one person was killed and 65 others were hurt as a blast rocked Afghanistan's Kabul city on Monday, media reports said.

The blast reportedly occurred close to the  Afghanistan Football Federation in Kabul’s PD16. 

The Interior Ministry's spokesman Nusrat Rahimi said the explosion was due to a truck bombing followed by gunfight by two attackers who are targeting the Defense Ministry's logistics and engineering center from a building under construction in front of the military facility, reported Tolo News.

Wahidullah Mayar, a spokesman for Ministry of Public Health,told the news portal that at least 65 people, including nine children, were wounded in the explosion.

The Taliban group has claimed responsibility for the incident.
