Kabul, Dec 2 (IBNS): The key Pachir Agam district of Afghanistan's Nangarhar Province has been freed from Islamic State (IS) militants, the media quoted local officers as saying.

A joint operations by several forces led to the cleansing.

The forces also seized several ammunition during the course of the operation.

Local officials have been quoted as saying that the operations will continue until they manage to drive out the terrorists from the aforementioned province, Khaama Press reported.

The groups loyal to IS here had turfed out the Afghan Talibans here and gained ground, luring young villagers with money to join them.

The Islamic State loyalists who had started ruling in the region were armed heavily and had fought the Taliban who had to flee.
