Afghanistan: Seven ANA soldiers killed during clash in Qala-i-Zal district

Kabul, Sept 17 (IBNS): Seven Afghan National Army (ANA) soldiers and 15 Taliban were killed during a clash in the Qala-i-Zal district of Afghanistan, media reports said on Monday.

District Police Chief 1st Lt. Safdar Ali told Pajhwok Afghan News the Taliban stormed ANA check-posts in the Aqepai locality on Sunday night and the clash continued till early morning on Monday.

The situation is currently under control.

The Provincial Council Member Toryal Karkar told Pajhwok Afghan News the check post attacked by the insurgent was situated in a short distance from the district centre and district police centre.

The Taliban has confirmed the clash in the area.

As per the Afghanistan-based news agency, the group’s Spokesman Zabihullah Mujahid said six ANA soldiers killed and three arrested during the attack.
