Afghanistan: SGPC condemns attack on Gurdwara Dashmesh Pita

| @indiablooms | Oct 06, 2021, at 11:32 pm

Amritsar/UNI: Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC) President Jagir Kaur has strongly condemned the ransacking of the Gurdwara Dashmesh Pita, Karta-E-Parwan at Kabul, capital of Afghanistan.

Ms Jagir Kaur said, “Due to the current situation in Afghanistan, the problems of Sikhs living there are constantly increasing, which has created an atmosphere of anxiety and fear among the Sikhs there. Wherever, the Sikhs settled in the country or across the world, they have worked tirelessly for that place’s progress and prosperity. Following the teachings of their Gurus (masters), the Sikhs have maintained the tradition of cooperation with everyone.”

The SGPC President said that there are many historical Gurdwara Sahibs in Afghanistan and the Sikhs have been living there for centuries but some people with radical thinking are targeting Sikhs by forgetting the history, traditions, customs and inspirations of the religion, which is not legitimate.

She appealed to the Union Government to do more to ensure the safety of Sikhs in Afghanistan, “Even after several weeks of the current situation in Afghanistan, the Union Government is not making serious efforts for the stability and security of the Sikhs. I appeal to the Central Government to take immediate and concrete steps for the protection of the minority Sikhs living in Afghanistan.”
