Kabul, Dec 8 (IBNS): A group of Taliban militants allegedly stormed the Kandahar airfield in Afghanistan and launched a coordinated attack on Tuesday, media reports said.
The attack on a compound of the Afghan National Army (ANA) in Kandahar airfield gave way to heavy gunbattle between the militants and the security forces.

"Provincial governor spokesman Samim Khpolwak confirmed the incident but he said it is yet not clear how many militants are involved in the attack," Khaama Press reported.

According to reports, the fight is still on and there is no confirmed reports on the number of casualties.

This attack comes a day after the Taliban militants attacked a police station in the 9th police district of Kandahar city, leaving two policemen wounded.
