Kabul, Feb 5 (IBNS): A policeman was shot dead by unidentified gunmen in Afghanistan's eastern Nangarhar province on Tuesday, media reports said.

The attackers also took away his weapons.

Attaullah Khogyani, the governor’s spokesman, told Pajhwok Afghan News the incident occurred in the second police district of Jalalabad, the provincial capital.

An investigation into the incident has been started.

An eyewitness told the Afghanistan-based news agency on condition of anonymity that the policeman was gunned down inside the old customs building by three masked attackers near Talashi Square.

No group has claimed responsibility for the attack so far.
