American airlines slammed for blaming 9-year-old girl in bathroom filming lawsuit

American Airlines has been slammed for blaming a 9-year-old girl in a lawsuit over the minor being filmed inside the bathroom of the plane, media reports said.

In a startling response to the whole case, the attorney, who was representing the airline, blamed the victim- the 9-year-old girl- for the situation.

"Any injuries or illnesses alleged to have been sustained by Plaintiff, Mary Doe, were proximately caused by Plaintiff’s own fault and negligence," the attorney said as quoted by Hindustan Times.

The attorney further said, the incidents "were proximately caused by Plaintiff’s use of the compromised lavatory, which she knew or should have known contained a visible and illuminated recording device."

Lawyer Paul Llewellyn, who represented the victim, called the response "outrageous".

"I was absolutely shocked...," said Llewellyn as quoted by Hindustan Times and added, "The idea that American Airlines and its lawyers would blame a 9-year-old girl for being filmed, in my opinion, just smacks of desperation and depravity."

A flight attendant was accused of filming young girls aged 7-14 last year.

The alleged incidents occurred in a time period between January and August, 2023.
