New York/IBNS: At least 13 people were injured after a suspect unleashed gunfire on a subway train in New York's Brooklyn during Tuesday morning rush hour,  the New York Fire Department said.

The attack broke out around 8:30 a.m. on a Manhattan-bound N train at the 36th Street station in Sunset Park.

According to media reports, authorities discovered several undetonated devices.

However, the New York Police Department in a tweet said there are no active explosive devices at this time.

The suspect reportedly was dressed in an apparent construction garb similar to an MTA worker.

He is believed to have set off the smoke grenade moments before resorting to gunfire, police sources told The Post.

At least 13 people received injuries in the incident.

The New York Police Department, or NYPD, tweeted, "Due to an investigation, avoid the area of 36th Street and 4th Avenue area in Brooklyn. Expect emergency vehicles and delays in the surrounding area."

People tweeted photos showing commuters with blood on their clothes while many helped fellow commuters.

The authorities are yet to confirm if this was a terror attack.

Some photos on social media show blood on the floor of a metro coach in the Brooklyn subway. Several Twitter users have indicated this could be a terror attack.

Footage showed screaming passengers rushing out onto the platform as soon as the train doors opened and clouds of smoke billowed out.
