Bangladesh: COVID-19 claims 39 lives in past 24 hours

Dhaka: Bangladesh registered 39 COVID-19 deaths in the past 24 hours, the highest daily count in eight weeks, media reports said on Monday.

The total deaths due to the highly infectious disease in the country now stands at 6,254.

Coronavirus cases surged by 2,212 in the 24 hours to 8 am Tuesday to 436,684, according to the latest data released by the Directorate General of Health Services, bdnews24.com reported.

Another 1,749 patients recovered from the disease at home and in hospital care, bringing the total to 352,895, the news portal reported.

The virus, which is believed to have originated from China, has hit nearly all the nations in the world.
