Bangladesh: Two buses collide head-on, 16 killed

Dhaka, July 19 (IBNS) Two passenger buses collided head-on in west of the Bangabandhu Bridge in Bangladesh's Sirajganj area to leave at least 16 people dead on Sunday, media reports said.

The mishap has left more than 40 others injured.

The Rangpur-bound bus of Sabir Paribahan from Chittagong and Azad Paribahan's Dhaka-bound bus from Gaibandha were involved in the collision,  Hellal Uddin, OC of the bridge’s west-end police station was quoted as saying by bdnews24.com.

A five-member committee has been set up to investigate the accident and submit their findings within 3 days, Deputy Commissioner Billal Hossain told bdnews24.com.

Injured people were rushed to hospital for treatment.

Both the buses have been seized.
