Blast in Pakistan kills 48

Islamabad, Nov 2 (IBNS) At least 48 people were killed in a blast which occurred close to the Wagah border in Pakistan on Sunday, media reports said.

The blast has left 70 others injured, reports said.

"IG Punjab has confirmed that the explosion was a suicide attack. Sources at the Ghurki Hospital have confirmed that 48 bodies have been brought to the hospital," Geo News reported.

Speaking to Geo News, IG Punjab Mushtaq Sukhera said, the suicide attacker approached the gate as the crowd was vacating the parade area where the flag hoisting ceremony is held.

The police suspects that the blast is a result of a suicide attack.

Security forces have rushed the spot of the blast.
