Canada PM Justin Trudeau condoles death of people in Tsunami-hit Indonesia

Ottawa, Dec 24 (IBNS): Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau has expressed sadness over the devastation caused by Tsunami in Indonesia.

Trudeau tweeted, "A very shocking and tragic situation in Indonesia - today we send condolences to everyone affected by the tsunami that caused so much devastation on the Sunda Strait. Canadians’ thoughts are with you & our government is ready to offer assistance if needed."

A tsunami triggered by volcanic eruption hit Indonesia's Sunda Strait region on Saturday and left at least 281 people killed.

The mishap left over 1000 people injured.

It is thought that volcanic activity set off undersea landslides which in turn generated the killer waves, reported BBC.
