COVID-19: Bangladesh reports 606 more case, 11 deaths

Dhaka/UNI: Eleven more people died from coronavirus in Bangladesh in the past 24 hours, taking the death toll to 8,462.

During the period, 606 more people were diagnosed with the virus, raising the total infection to 5,50,330, the Directorate General of Health Services said in a statement on Sunday.

Bangladesh first reported its COVID-19 cases on March 8 last year. Since then the country has been struggling to limit spread of the highly contagious virus.

Of the total patients, 5,03,003 recovered, with 1,037 recovered in the last 24 hours.

The daily count came from test of 14,092 samples in the past day. With this, a total of 41,46,205 samples have, so far, been tested.

Coronavirus first emerged in the Chinese city of Wuhan in December last year, and then spread to newer countries and territories.

Till date, the epidemic infected 117,129,124 people and killed 2,601,033 across the globe, according to Worldometer, a website which compiles number of new coronavirus cases and deaths from it.

However, total number of people who recovered from the coronavirus pandemic reached 92,700,670 across the world.
