Ex-Chinese Premier Li Keqiang, 68, dies of heart attack

Former Chinese Premier Li Keqiang died of heart attack on Friday (October 27, 2023).

He was 68.

According to local media reports, he died in Shanghai.

Li recently had a rest in Shanghai. On Oct. 26, Li had a sudden heart attack and passed away at 00:10 on Oct. 27 after all rescue measures failed, reported Chinese news agency Xinhua.

Li served as the premier of the People's Republic of China from 2013 to 2023.

He was also the second-ranked member of the Politburo Standing Committee of the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) from 2012 to 2022.

Li was a major part of the "fifth generation of Chinese leadership" along with Xi Jinping, the CCP general secretary.
