From Gaza to governance: Islamic nations rally behind Trump’s ‘Board of Peace’

Davos/IBNS: Eight Islamic nations, including key Arab and Muslim-majority countries, have formally agreed to join US President Donald Trump’s proposed “Board of Peace,” signalling coordinated backing for an international framework aimed at ending the Gaza conflict.

In a joint statement released on Wednesday, the foreign ministers of Qatar, Turkey, Egypt, Jordan, Indonesia, Pakistan, Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates confirmed their acceptance of Trump’s invitation to participate in the initiative.

The ministers said their governments had collectively decided to join the Board and would complete all required legal and procedural steps to formalise their participation.

The statement noted that Egypt, Pakistan and the UAE had already announced their decision to join, with the remaining countries set to follow through official channels.

The ministers reaffirmed support for peace efforts led by President Trump and expressed commitment to implementing the Board of Peace’s mandate as a transitional administrative body.

The initiative is rooted in the Comprehensive Plan to End the Gaza Conflict, endorsed by United Nations Security Council Resolution 2803.

According to the statement, the Board’s mission includes consolidating a permanent ceasefire, facilitating Gaza’s reconstruction, and advancing a just and lasting peace based on Palestinian self-determination and statehood under international law.

The Board of Peace was unveiled during phase two of the fragile Israel-Hamas ceasefire, with the Trump administration envisioning a role spanning governance support, reconstruction, investment mobilisation and regional stability.
