Horror in Asadabad: One dead, 16 injured after alleged Pakistan shelling, claims Afghanistan

| @indiablooms | Mar 30, 2026, at 02:33 pm

Afghanistan has accused Pakistan’s military of shelling on the outskirts of Asadabad city on Sunday, according to media reports.

The alleged shelling reportedly left one person dead and injured 16 others, most of them women and children.

Afghan Deputy Government Spokesman Hamdullah Fitrat said on X: “Once again, the militias of the Pakistani military regime conducted shelling this afternoon at approximately 5:00 PM on rural areas and civilian residences located on the outskirts of Asadabad, the center of Kunar Province, employing mortars and other heavy weaponry.”

He added that civilian casualties were reported as a result of the incident, stating: “Preliminary figures to date indicate that 16 individuals, the majority of whom are women and children, have been injured, and one individual has been martyred.”

Afghanistan and Pakistan have seen escalating tensions in recent times, with some of the deadliest cross-border clashes in recent years.

Pakistan has not yet responded to the allegations.

Earlier exchanges included accusations of Pakistani airstrikes in Kabul, while Afghan authorities had previously claimed that airstrikes on a hospital in the capital earlier this month killed around 400 people.
