Donald Trump on Sunday participated in the 250th Independence Day celebrations of the United States via a phone call during the event in New Delhi, when he praised Narendra Modi, calling himself a “big fan” of the Indian PM.

US Ambassador to India Sergio Gor dialled Trump during the event held in New Delhi, which was also attended by visiting US Secretary of State Marco Rubio.

During the call, Trump said, “India can count on me 100%. If they ever need help, they know where to call. They call right here. We’re doing well. We’re setting records. We have a record economy, a record stock market, and anything India wants to get. I am a big fan of Prime Minister Modi.”

He further added, “Say hello to Prime Minister Modi and let him know I’m a big fan.”

Rubio Reaffirms US–India Strategic Partnership

Separately, US Secretary of State Marco Rubio stated that the United States and India share a relationship that goes beyond a traditional alliance, describing it as a deep and evolving strategic partnership.

Speaking during delegation-level talks with External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar in New Delhi on Sunday, Rubio emphasized long-term cooperation between the two nations across multiple regions.

“The US and India aren’t just allies. We are strategic allies, and that’s of critical importance,” Rubio said, noting that the partnership extends beyond regional boundaries, including potential collaboration in the Western Hemisphere.

He added that while the United States works with several countries globally, its relationship with India stands out due to its depth and strategic scope.

Rubio also met Prime Minister Narendra Modi during his visit, with officials stating that discussions focused on strengthening bilateral cooperation across multiple sectors.

Following the meeting, PM Modi said India and the US would continue working closely for global stability and broader international good.
