If SOPs ignored then COVID-19 cases in Pakistan will touch one million by July end: Minister

Islamabad/IBNS: A Pakistani minister has cautioned his countrymen that if the carelessness of citizens in following standard operating procedures continues  then the number of COVID-19 cases in the country might touch 300,000 by the end of this month and to a million by end July.

Addressing the media at the National Command and Operation Centre (NCC) in Islamabad, Minister for Planning and Development Asad Umar said a radical change in the attitude is the need of the hour.

"Studies suggest that the pace of the virus' spread could decrease by 50% by covering the mouth alone," Umar was quoted as saying by Geo News.

Pakistan has registered 142263 COVID-19 cases so far.

So far, 2663 people have died.
