The Canadian Police have issued an arrest warrant for an Indian-origin man after a woman was found dead at a park in the Lincoln area.

Niagara Regional Police Service said its officers believe the suspect, who has been identified as Manpreet Singh, may have fled the country shortly after Amanpreet’s body was discovered.

The victim was identified as Amanpreet Saini of the Toronto suburb of North York.

She is also believed to belong to the Indian heritage community of the country.

"This is believed to have been a targeted attack with no ongoing threat to public safety," the police said in a statement.

Police said, "Members of the public who wish to provide information anonymously can contact Crime Stoppers of Niagara online or by calling 1-800-222-8477. Crime Stoppers offers cash rewards to people who contact the program with information that leads to an arrest."

Police have issued a Canada-wide arrest warrant for Singh for committing second-degree murder offence.

The police issued an image of Singh and asked public not to 'approach' him if seen.

Singh, whose family is from Punjab, has fled to India, sources told NDTV.
