Tokyo, Jan 24 (IBNS) A new video has emerged which claimed that militant group Islamic State (IS) have killed Japanese hostage Haruna Yukawa, media reports said.

Japan is reportedly  verifying the video.

"Japan says it is seeking to verify a video that claims Japanese hostage Haruna Yukawa, held by Islamic State (IS) militants, has been killed," BBC reported.

"Cabinet ministers are holding an emergency meeting about the video," it reported.

Japan Prime Minister Shinzo Abe on Tuesday  had vowed to save the two Japanese hostages after the Islamic State group threatened to kill them.

A video purportedly from the Islamic State, a man, who is claiming to be a member of militant group, is seen threatening to kill two Japanese captives unless a ransom of $200 million is paid, reports said.

The man, who is wearing a black outfit, is seen standing in between the two Japanese nationals kneeling on the ground.

"In the video uploaded to the YouTube video-hosting site, the man, wielding a knife, threatened to kill the Japanese hostages, identified as Haruna Yukawa and Kenji Goto, within 72 hours,"Japanese News Agency Kyodo reported on Tuesday.
