As the Covid-19 cases continue to rise in Nepal, authorities announced several fresh restrictions, including mandatory ten-day quarantine and restriction on land routes, reported The Himalayan Times.

The measures were announced after a meeting of the cabinet on Wednesday. All foreign nationals, except Indians and Chinese, have been barred from entering the country through land routes.

Indians, entering from land routes, would be required to produce a negative PCR report and a prior hotel booking for at least 10 days. And, Chinese nationals will have to show entry permits, negative PCR reports, and hotel reservation booking.

The Cabinet  also decided to re-introduce mandatory 10-day quarantine for all those entering the Himalayan nation through land and air routes.

Nepalis, arriving from India through land routes, will have to stay in home quarantine for a 10-day period. These people will be monitored by local officials during their isolation. Similarly, Nepali citizens arriving via air route will also have to provide a negative PCR report and have to mandatorily stay in a hotel or home quarantine

The government has decided to enhance the monitoring of people in isolation and also issued instructions to district crisis centers in this regard.
