At least two policemen were injured during a gun attack at a checkpoint in Pakistan's Shangla district on Saturday.

Aloch Station House Officer (SHO) Bakht Zeb Khan told Dawn.com that the police checkpost in Muslim Kandaw, which borders Buner district, was attacked and two personnel were injured.

The SHO said since no policemen were present close to the checkpost so locals rushed to the spot and took the injured cops to Pir Muhammad Khan Shaheed Hospital in Aloch for treatment.

“One of the injured personnel was shifted to Saidu Teaching Hospital in Swat for further treatment,” the SHO said.

A search operation has been initiated in the area to nab those behind the incident.
