Pakistan: Suspected terrorists blow up government school building in South Waziristan

Suspected terrorists blew up a government school building in Lower South Waziristan region of Pakistan on Sunday, media reports said.

Birmal circle DSP Asghar Ali Shah told Dawn on phone that terrorists planted explosives along the school’s boundary wall as well as inside the premises before fleeing the scene in Qara Bagh area of Azam Warsak.

The blast, he said caused severe damage to the boundary wall and also destroyed several classrooms.

Police have started investigating the incident.

A local told the newspaper that two separate explosions targeted the high school building and an under-construction higher secondary school.

Police teams are currently collecting evidence to ascertain those behind the attack.
