Paktia clash kills at least 21 Taliban militants

Kabul, Sept 4 (IBNS): At least 21 Taliban militants were killed during a clash with security officials in Afghanistan's Paktia province, local Tolo News reported.

The incident broke out at midnight and went on till about 8 am on Tuesday in the province's Janikhel district.

Officials said that the militants targeted a security check post, injuring at least six military men and killing four others in the ensuing battle.

At least a dozen militants were also injured.

Meanwhile, after Taliban claimed that it had gained control over the district, local officials rejected it.
