Protest rallies in the US against Donald Trump's victories

Washington, Nov 10 (IBNS) : Thousands of people hit the street in different parts of the US on Wednesday protesting against Donald Trump's surprise victory in the Presidential election, Time reported.

The protesters were rallying against  what they see as Trump's racist and misogynist rhetoric

Disappointed voters in New York City and Chicago marched into the night, denouncing the President-elect’s rhetoric on immigrants, Muslims and other minority groups, which had already kicked up a storm and made a sharp division among the electorate.

Reports of protests were also received from  Oakland, Seattle, Pittsburgh, Austin, Philadelphia, Portland and several cities around the world.

According to Time, the  demonstrations were mostly peaceful, but there were pockets of unrest.

In downtown Chicago, New York and Washington, D.C., crowds  thronged outside Trump International Hotels.

In Chicago, protesters chanted: “No Trump! No KKK! No racist USA.”

NBC Washington reports that some protesters vandalized a number of sites in the capital and several arrests were made.

Outside the White House, people gathered for a peaceful candle-lit vigil, where they “chanted, sang and prayed.“
