Russian trawler sinks, 54 sailors killed

Moscow, Apr 2 (IBNS): At least 54 sailors were killed as a Russian trawler sank off the Kamchatka peninsula, media reports said on Thursday.

"According to the latest data, 54 bodies have been recovered and 63 crew members have been rescued,"a source in the local emergencies services told TASS news agency.

All the 63 rescued fishermen of the Dalniy Vostok freezer trawler are suffering hypothermia, and one is in a critical condition, a source in the main department of the Emergencies Ministry in the Kamchatka Territory told the Russian news agency.

.An investigation has been started into the matter.

Search is going on to find out the 15 people who are missing since the mishap.
