Save the Children attack: Death toll rises to six

Kabul, Jan 25 (IBNS): At least six people have been killed in the Save the Children NGO attack in Jalalabad city in Afghanistan, reports said.

According to a statement by the NGO, three staffers have been killed during the ambush, while local Tolo News reported that four Save the Children staffers along with a security personnel and a civilian were killed.

Earlier, the death toll was placed at two.

In addition, 25 people have sustained injuries while dozens have been rescued by government forces.

The attack has been claimed by the so called Islamic State.

Following the attack, Save the Children, which has been operational in Afghanistan since 1976, has suspended all operations in the country.

Save the Children provides poor Afghan children with basic education, healthcare and other necessary things.
