Taliban delegation visits China amid Afghanistan violence

Beijing: A Taliban delegation visited China on Tuesday, a development assuming significance especially at a time when Afghanistan is witnessing a resurgence of violence following the withdrawal of foreign forces from the country.

The Taliban’s political office spokesperson Naeem Wardak in a Twitter post said that a nine-member delegation led by the head of office Mullah Abdul Ghani Baradar visited China on Tuesday, Khaama Press reported.

The Taliban delegation is visiting China on a two-day trip and met with the foreign minister of China, Wang Yi, reads the tweet as quoted by the news agency.

As per Naeem Wardak, the delegation includes, Mullah Abdul Ghani Baradar, Suhail Shaheen, Abdulsalaam Hanafi, Khairullah Khairkhaw, Shahabudeen Delawar, Matiullah Khales, Emar Yaser, Nebrasulhaq Aziz, and the spokesperson himself, reports Khaama Press.

The visit is said to be aimed at discussing bilateral relations with China, the peace process, and other relevant issues, the Afghanistan-based news agency reported.

The Taliban groups have started capturing several regions in Afghanistan unleashing violence.

The group has even started torturing civilians which include women.
