Kabul: The Taliban-led government in Afghanistan has released 40 prisoners in Kandahar.

The local officials told Khaama Press that the innocent prisoners and those who are accused of low-scale crimes were freed in coordination with Afghanistan’s Office of Prisons Administration.

A delegation of Afghanistan’s Office of Prisons Administration is supposed to travel to Uruzgan, Helmand, Nimroz, Herat, Faryab, and other provinces of the country to investigate cases of inmates, reported the news agency.

The Taliban came to power in Afghanistan on Aug 15.
