Istanbul, Dec 11 (IBNS): At least 29 people were killed and about 166 injured as two bombs exploded near a football stadium in Turkey's Istanbul city, media reports said.

"The explosions, believed to be a car bomb and a suicide bomb, targeted police officers," BBC News reported quoting officials.

According to reports, a car bomb exploded first outside the Vodafone Arena, which is the area of Istanbul’s Besiktas soccer team.

Forty-five seconds later, a suspect wearing explosives blew himself up while surrounded by police in an adjacent park.

Ten arrests have been reportedly made into the twin blasts.
