At least two terrorists were killed during an intelligence-based operation in Pakistan's Khyber Pakhtunkhwa region, media reports said on Friday.

The deceased included a 'high-value target'.

In a statement, the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) said security forces conducted an operation late last night on the “reported presence of terrorists”, reports Dawn News.

“After an intense fire exchange, two terrorists, including HVT Gul Yousaf Toor, were sent to hell,” it said.

The ISPR stated that Toor had “remained actively involved in numerous terrorist activities against security forces, including high-profile terrorist attacks in Tank and Dera Ismail Khan districts as well as extortion and target killing of innocent civilians”.

“He was highly wanted by the law enforcement agencies and [the] government had fixed head money of Rs2.5 million on him,” the ISPR added as quoted by Dawn News.

Pakistan, especially the  KP and Balochistan regions, are witnessing a spike in terrorism after banned militant Tehreek-i-Taliban Pakistan ended the ceasefire with the government in 2022.
