San Francisco/Xinhua/UNI: A gunman shot two people in an elementary school parking lot in Vancouver in the US state of Washington, the Clark County Sheriff's Office said on Wednesday.

Police authorities said Clark County Deputies responded to a shooting on Tuesday at Sarah J. Anderson Elementary and located two victims suffering "unknown injuries," who were then rushed to hospital.

The police said after locating the suspect and his vehicle they started a pursuit, with the suspected gunman eventually stopping at a crossroad and shooting himself in the head. The suspect was later taken to hospital.

The local newspaper The Oregonian reported that two children were found in the car with the victims when the shooting happened, which a police officer described as the culmination of an ongoing domestic violence situation. No further details about the violence were disclosed.

The Vancouver Public School District (VPSD) confirmed the shooting involved two adult victims and one adult suspect, but noted that no students or staff members were injured as the incident took place outside of school hours.

"There is no danger to the public at this time," said the VPSD, adding that the police are still investigating the shooting.
